Carolyn Ross

Director Of Covenant Youth Choir

I am a lifelong resident of the Brazosport area. I began my education in BISD at Roberts Elementary. I continued through Lake Jackson Intermediate and graduated from Brazoswood High School in 1995. My college education began in Sioux City, Iowa where I graduated from Briar Cliff College in 1999 with my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Music Education K-12. My graduate degree is from Stephen F. Austin in 2019 with my Masters in Educational Leadership.

My teaching career began at Rasco Middle School in 1999 as the 5th grade music teacher and in 2012, I expanded my teaching responsibilites with the addition of the 6th grade choir. Additionally, I continue to enhance my educational experience through participation in administrative roles for BISD. I became the youth choir director at CEPC, Lake Jackson in the Fall of 1999.

I am married to my loving husband Greg and we have one son, Tanner. In my free time I love to hang out with my family, going out to eat and watching movies. I also enjoy listening to all types of music, exercising, and reading.

I believe in the importance of participation in vocal music and its life-changing qualities. Sharing my love of music and the church is always a goal in my youth choir rehearsals. As a teacher, I lead by example and endevour to help choir members demonstrate leadership and quality behavior. I believe that music is essential for a well-rounded education.

Music ministry is very important to me. My goal is to help the youth choir members value the rich experience of being part of praise and worship music. Involvement in music and performance is inspirational to the growth of young people along their faith journeys.

I invite you to join the music program at CEPC. We welcome you to learn more about music and grow as an individual through participation in our group. Everyone has a song in their heart and everyone can learn to sing with joy. As the famous musician Michael Jackson says, “People ask me how I make music. I tell them I just step into it. It’s like stepping into a river and joining the flow. Every moment in the river has its own song.” I hope you will join us and dive into music at CEPCLJ.
